We have also a Blogg with pictures. Most of the captures are also in English but the blogg itself is written only in Finnish.

10th September 2009, Happy birthday

It has been a long time since Cajo and Pirpana had a tender moment and the children from the 2nd litter are already 6 years old today :) Congratulations!

3rd September 2009, New names on the pages

A lot has happened since my last note. One of the good things is however the long time expected new familymember, tollerpuppy Ducky. Ducky (Allydor's Powerful Bowl of Beauty) is Cajo's granddaughter who travelled with me from Sweden to Finland yesterday. Ducky of course charmed everyone on the boat and has had really exciting 1,5 days! I visited the puppies for a couple of times during the summer and during the second trip I thought that I had found what I had been looking for :) There is a lot to learn to both of us since it is already almost ten years since Cajo was a puppy! Cajo has been enjoying summer and swimming and playing with the dozens of toys that he has, we'll see what he thinks about a little girl in the house. Luckily he has always been very patient and kind with puppies. Cajo and Ducky will meet each other probably this weekend because Cajo was staying with my mom at another town during my trip.

Other news is that my kennelname Cayora's has been approved by FCI and therefore our pages got a new headline. More about the backgrounds of the name can be found from the page about us. We also have a new address: www.cayoras.com.

6th March 2009, Honeymoon

1st January 2009, New Year, New title :)

Since FCI has decided for a new international beauty champion title, will Cajo, to my happy surprise, also become an international champion C.I.E. (Champion International d´Exposition) :) There are 4 CACIBs needed from 3 different countries and 3 different judges and last CACIB needed for the title Cajo got already in 2003 from Sweden. I'm of course really delighted for this honour :)

I don't either see the title as being negative for working dog breeds because I personally don't think that dog breeding should be based on any titles regardless of the dogsport, or even in just results in general, but instead it should be based on more far-reaching things.

9th December 2008, HUND2008 and Cajo became SU(u)CH! :)

Our big dream is finally true... Cajo became Swedish show champion in Stora Stockholm, the biggest annual show in Sweden, last Sunday! The last CAC was so hard to get that I'm extremely extremely happy now and really appreciate the title :) I tried to get the last CAC to Cajo from two smaller shows (even one group show of 10 dogs) but he clearly wanted to do it with style... The judge in the show had changed which I didn't know until 20 minutes before the ring started. Now it was Erling K Pedersen instead of Gitte Finnich Pedersen. There were also 2 other veterans (both champions) in veteran class but Cajo was the only one that got CK. In the best male ring there were only 4 males who had gotten CK (certificat quality). The judge kept us in excitement, he wanted the dogs to run and run and run again and checked the front part many times. I would have been happy with 2nd place as well if we only would have gotten the CAC... But Cajo has always been a dog that want's to do everything with his own style. So in the end of the day Cajo was Best male and he also won Best of Breed against the beautiful female from Agrosofens. It was close that dad and daughter weren't against themselves in the BOB/BOS competition because Tilly won the champion females and was 2nd Best female with res-CACIB! Congratulations Siv! About Alice the judge said that she should otherwise win but she has too much white in her foreleg and won't therefore be placed.

Cajo was perhaps even happier than usually, he even barked one time in the ring after he had won :) He was fully enjoying every minute and so was I! In the end Cajo got all his 3 certificates from the big show Stora Stockholm. But when you really think about it: could one expect anything else from a dog who loves showing from his heart and wants to be in the middle of big audiences? Well, perhaps not :) Cajo really made the day unforgettable to me, we enjoyed our fifteenminutes in fame in both the BIS-veteran competition and group 8 competition in the big final ring! I want to thank all of you lovely people who came to congratulate us! You made the day even more perfect to us :) It was so nice to talk with you all and meet new dogs. And huge thanks goes to Alices owner Sofia, who again took us live with her and made this possible! The veteranpuppy has gotten pig ears, bones, new toys and meatballs and even though he might not fully understand why, I'm sure he's more than happy...

8th October 2008, WW, TollerShow & Retriever speciality

I notice that I haven't written anything for a long time to the English site. So I'm just gonna let the pictures talk :) This time only show news, I'm too lazy to write anything other :D

World winner

At the circuit show ,which was arranged 2 days before the world dog show, Cajo was BOS-veteran and BM-2 with reserve-CAC. So close to the 3rd real CAC again...
In World Winner in Stockholm at the beginng of July Cajo became world veteran winner, BOB-veteran and was nearly placed in the BIS-veteran (among the 6 best). He also got a Reserve-CAC, again... So he did't even yet become Champion, we seem to be always 2nd what comes to swedish CAC :) BOS-veteran was Enni from Finland.

The official WWV-picture can be found: here.
To see a video of Cajo in the show, look here, Cajo is presenting when the timer is 12:27 :)

TollerShow

In the Finnish TollerShow on the 7th September Cajo was BIS-veteran and BM-4 out of 170 tollers (2nd biggest official toller speciality in the world).

Retriever speciality

At the retriever speciality on the 5th October Cajo became BOB-veteran and BIS-3-VET :)

Four BOBs with their prizes at retriever speciality: BOB-vet Cajo, BOB Elli, BOB-junior Daisy & BOB-puppy Sasu

15th June 2008, At the Tollercamp and nice results to Cajo's children

Last weekend we were at the tollercamp in Jämsä, Finland. It was really nice to meet some new people and we even got a new friend from Turku, since we traveled with Maarit and her tollerboy Huuko. Cajo just loved Huuko, a 2,5-year-old toller boy and would have wanted to play with him ;) The boys got along really well. We also had a female, Nelli, with us in the cottage.

During the camp Ida was competing in agility again and she got her first 0! Congratulations! Alice took part in hunting test in Sweden. The waterjob had went very well but the long waiting time and hot day had been too much and she hadn't passed the test this time. Alice has also been to Norway to a dog show. She got BOS, BB-1 and CAC but unfortunately they had given wrong information in the Norwegian kennelclub and she didn't became NUCH, yet. But they have time, she's a young girl :)

After three weeks we'll travel to Sweden to WW! I don't have big expectations because Cajo is still out of coat (I wonder how long can it take it to grow back??). It'll be, however, nice to meet friends in our neighbourland and see many beautiful tollers :) We'll meet there!

21th May 2008, Lots of news

I have gotten lots of great news during the latest week but also really sad news. Cajo's litterbrother Kimi (Hingstbackes Red-Cimi) was put to sleep last thursday :( He got lumbar disc prolapse and was paralysed from back part. We are so sad of losing Cajo's brother and send warm thoughts to his owners. There are too many dogs that die too young, I don't think that the life of a 8,5-year-old should yet be over...

The better news are that Cajo's daughter Ida (Mäkiharjun Pipar-Kakku) competed in agility last weekend and got her first result: 5 faultpoints and 2nd placement in Maxi1 with a time as fast as -12,07, not bad! In Sweden 5 of the 7 puppies met in a dog show, 4 of them took part in the show. Stella wasn't used in being in the ring and was being shy towards the judge so she got "cannot be judged". She just needs to get used in people touching and seeing her in the ring. Pretty girl she is, as one can see from the pictures that I got from Sofia (see the litter page) :) Cajo's son Castor got Good because of not behaving so well, an obedience course will hopefully help. The girls Tilly and Alice took CKs and were placed as BB-1 and BB-4, Tilly finally won BOB. Nemo was also in the show area so I got really nice pictures of all the 5 puppies, thank you!! And the next day Tilly had made an even better result... She got her 3rd 1st prize in game tracking and therefore became Swedish tracking champion so now Tilly is a double champion! We're so proud of you Tilly and Siv :)

7th May 2008, Group show at Koski TL

Since my good friend Minna was going to a group show in Koski TL, I decided to also take part in a group show after many years break. We had three dogs with us, a petit basset griffon vendeen "Kimu", a golden retriever "Tilli" and Cajo the toller. My mission was to first trim Tilli and then handle her. I think se looked pretty much like a golden after the trimming even though I hadn't ever trimmed a golden before ;) The presentation in the ring went nicely and the owner was very happy with her dog but Tilli was too shy to be a golden retriever and should have been more enthusiasted so she, like expected, got "satisfactory". Then it was Cajo's turn. There were 23 tollers entered, pretty much to be a group show. Tollers were judged by Ms. Leila Kärkäs. Cajo was presenting himself really nicely (unlike in Tampere) and was very happy so in the end of the day he had won the males, had become BOB-veteran and BOS :) The judge decided to place the intermediate class female as BOB and the veteran male as BOS. In the BIS-veteran competition the judge praised Cajo's coat colour but he wasn't placed. It was a hot and sunny day and we had nice time with good company :)

24th March 2008, Tampere INT & Stockholm INT & agility news

We were at International show in Tampere. Tollers (31) were judged by a new Finnish judge Tapio Eerola. He was using the whole scale in his judgement and only 3 males got Excellent. Cajo was one of them. Cajo was presenting like a puppy - but not in a good way this time, a little bit enthusiastic ;) We were placed as 3rd in th best male ring and Cajo was also BOB-veteran :) This time no success at BIS veteran ring. Cajo was pleased that his owner finally realised that dogs really don't care about trophies made of metal and that his owner changed the trophy to a prize card and took him 10 yummy bones instead.

Cajo's daughters Alice and Tilly were at the international show in Stockholm, Sweden, yesterday and Alice became BOB with CACIB. Tilly was 4th Best Female. Congratulations to both Siv and Sofia and also Dorothy who has bred these nice girls :)

Ida from Cajo's 2nd litter has started her agility career by competing in 3 agility competitions. Not yet any success but they had nearly gotten 0 today - they had just gotten disqualified because Ida had run to the obstacle before a promise and her owner had taken her back to start place. After a new try Ida had done a perfect job. We're sure that Ida & Paula will get nice results in the future, we'll enthusiastically following their career :)

12th March 2008, Visiting puppies

I visited the puppies of Erin (Hedera's Like a Rose) and Duke (Fireheart Hopalong Casidy) at kennel Hulivilin. They were just so cute :) There's nothing cuter than a tollerpuppy playing with a dead crow *hihi*. Pictures of them can be found from the gallery.

19th February 2008, Running in forest, some retrieving and even show news

I and Cajo have enjoyed our time on countriside in Äetsä in my parents' home, because I have now been able to study here. It's so lovely to be on countryside! One can let the dog be free on the yard (one only has to check that there aren't any other dogs in sight) and there is so much forest when one walks just one kilometer away from the house. Cajo has been running like a 4-year-old boy in the forest and he is still sooo playful! On Saturday he had only one way to move forward and it was running :)

Today we have had an activity day. At first I went to the forest with Cajo, a crow and a dummy. Cajo hadn't seen the crow after the retrieving test last September so I desiced to show him one now. Cajo had immediately his head in the plastic bag sniffing the tempting aroma and he didn't consider even a second when I finaly gave him a promise to retrieve. I felt like stupid again as my dog hasn't passed the retrieving test even though he absolutely threw himself to the crow and was even jumping and trying to get the crow from my hand. He certainly didn't lack any interest towards the game and I did some basic markerings and retrieves. When we arrived back to home and I left the plastic bag (which had the crow inside it) on the yard, Cajo decided to tore the bag and take the crow to a better place ;)

After a half an hour we went to the forest again, this time for a walk with my friend Pauliina and her kleinspitz Ronja. I also took some funny pictures during the weekend, I'll try to upload them some day. And I finally have done something so that we can one day actually go to the obedience training (I have been planning that for 3 years now)... I filled in a form to become a member of the local retriever club ;)

Alice has been to a show for a week ago and was BOS and BIS-2-BOS in a hard concurrence even though there weren't so many dogs. Congratulations!

27th January 2008, Success in Turku international show

There were 57 tollers entered to the international show in Turku. When Cajo get to the ring, the judge asked how old he is, because she was surprised by how happily and easily Cajo came to the ring :) Cajo got an excellent critique and in the best male competition the judge had hard time when considering if Cajo or an open class male should win. Judge, Ms. Anja Puumala (Finland), came to me and the other dog's owner and said that she doesn't know how to decide which one should win. She said that Cajo is clearly a top quality dog and she likes him really much. But that she also likes the other male very much. In the end, the movements were the thing that solved the placements - although not in the diretion that one could have thought. The judge said namely that Cajo moves like a dance but she isn't certain if a toller should have that much of back kick and move so well... So we were placed as 2nd best male, once again ;) Since the veteran female got only "very good", Cajo was also BOB-veteran.

In the BIS-veteran competition the judge (Tino Pehar, Croatia) took a really close look at every dog and both their side, back and front movements. That was really nice because not many group competition judges do that! When we were waiting on a queue to get to the Big ring (from the collection ring), the judge walked past us and stopped beside Cajo. He asked how high Cajo is. I said that he is 50 cm high and the judge asked "really?" ;) But yes, he is, he has been measured to be 49cm, 50cm and 51cm. In the big ring the judge even chose Cajo among the 6 best veterans!! :) Altough we after some time dropped off with an afghan hound. Getting among the 6 best veterans in an international show was however a super thing because the quality of veterans is really high and the 4 dogs that were placed, were all top quality dogs that have succeeded very highly in Finland. The day was exceptionally nice beacause it's not so often that one gets so much attention and praise from both of the judges :) Although my "veteranpuppy" really is lovely especially by his character, I remembered that thing many times during the stressful 9-hour-long day.

Critique (Ms. Anja Puumala):
Male of a very good type and size. Good head. Beautiful neck and overline. Excellent frontchest. Very well angulated front. Good sides and depth of chest. Good bones. Good length of body. Well angulated back. In a beautiful coat. Very happy movements.
